OTOLO, Nnewi – IGWE Kenneth Onyeneke Orizu III of Nnewi Ancient Kingdom celebrated his 59th Ofala and 97th Birthday anniversaries.
The Nnewi Monarch is the 2nd longest reigning Monachry in Nigeria for 59 years and still living after Late Eze Kanu Oji [Eze Aro] who reigned 73 years.
Igwe Orizu III is the traditional custodian of spiritual authority in Nnewi, an Ancient Igbo Town.
He was born October 30, 1925 in Otolo of the Nnofo Royal House. His education was at Hope Waddell College, Calabar and completed at New Bethel College, Onitsha.
Before his enthronement as Obi of Otolo and Igwe of Nnewi Kingdom, he worked in Asaba (Delta state) and did business in Kano state of Northern Nigeria.
Igwe Kenneth Orizu III is the vice chairman of the Anambra State House of Chiefs.
The Ofala is an annual cultural festival to celebrate the coronation of the Igwe and it marks his 59th year on the Nnewi throne.
The epoch-making ceremony was attended by both local and foreign dignitaries.
