Death in Liberia prayer ground

AT least 29 people have been killed in a stampede at a Christian prayer gathering in Liberian capital Monrovia.

The two day prayer gathering, which was hosted by popular preacher Pastor Abraham Kromah, on a football pitch in New Kru Town, attracted thousands of believers.

Police in Liberia are yet to confirm the actual number of causalities. The stampede was allegedly caused by robbers who attacked worshipers with knives.

Meanwhile, President George Weah has declared three days of mourning on Thursday and ordered an investigation.■
