A stolen Benin artifact, the “Okhokho” has been returned to the Benin Kingdom in Edo State, by the University of Cambridge, in the United Kingdom.

It was stolen by British troops during the 1897 invasion of the Benin Empire.

“Okhokho” means fowl in Edo (Benin) language.

The Oba of Benin’s Representatives and Nigerian Government’s Representatives received the Benin artifact, the Okhokho in the handover ceremony at Jesus College, the University of Cambridge in the UK.
