EFCC CHAIRMAN COLLAPSES AT PRESIDENTIAL VILLA ABUJA

■ The chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, slumped at a public event while giving a speech during the National Identity Day celebration held at the Banquet Hall of the Nigerian Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The incident occurred on Thursday, September 16, 2021, as he was speaking to the audience, midway he began showing signs of discomfort and made known to them he was returning to his seat, then he was assisted to the sofa and laid down.

Afterwards, the 41-year-old EFCC boss was hurriedly taken out of the event hall to receive medical attention at the statehouse clinic.

Hours later, the anti-graft agency announced that he has recovered and back to work.

“The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa is hale and hearty,”

This clarification became necessary following an incident today September 16, 2021 at the Presidential Villa, Abuja where he was giving a goodwill message to the National Identity Day celebration, felt unwell and had to return to his seat. “ He has since received medical attention and is due back at his desk” an official statement noted.

The country’s Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Pantami, who was also present at the event attributed the collapse to pressure and work burden. ●
