BAN BIG BROTHER SHOW AS YOU DID TO TWITTER LAMENTS MUSLIM GROUPS

■ Reality tv show Big Brother Naija has being described as an “abomination”, an “exhibition of nudity” and “an invitation to chaos and insecurity” because it allegedly seeks to mislead youths according to Prof. Ishaq Akintola, the Director of Islamic human rights organization, Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC).

In a report by THE PUNCH on Saturday, the Muslim cleric called on the Federal Government to ban the reality show, just as the government banned microblogging site Twitter.

Prof. Akintola lamented that Nigeria youths have missed it with the advent of BBNaija. He urged Pastors and Imams to speak to their followers, adding that the Quran and the Bible are against what is being demonstrated openly in the Big Brother Naija house.

The MURIC director further urged the National Broadcasting Commision(NBC) to wake up to its regulatory function and ban the show.

This year’s BBNaija show is the sixth season and tagged ‘Shine Ya Eye’ has already topped its previous seasons as organizers announced a grand prize of N90m.

Moreover, The Arewa Youths Advisory Forum described the reality tv show, Big Brother Naija as a calamity. The National President of the forum, Yerima Shettima while speaking to newsmen on Friday, expressed worry that the show encourages immorality and that the Nigerian government should ban it.
